This is Carini, Sicily, the southernmost part of Italy and the heart of the Mediterranean. When you land in Palermo (PMO), you are in my father and family's hometown and warm embrace. Anyone want to come and take in the sea, mountains, Italian (and Sicilian) language, still-standing Greek temples, secular and divine, amazing beaches, caffè and tremendous foods? Fammi sapere! As a former Professor of French and Italian, I led many immersive experiences in Paris, Rome, Capri and Sicily with students at Emory, EIU, and UC. But my family in Sicily – priceless. I would love to share my unique joy, as well as the history, sensory experiences, and culture of Sicily, with you. This video features my father and members of the Amato and Garofolo families, with special appreciation of the Randazzo and Conigliaro families.
